Welcome to Naturalist Yoga

Naturalism holds that everything that has existed, exists in the present moment and ever will exist is part of the natural world. Like Tantric philosophy, it is a non-dual vision of reality. Non-dual means there is only one reality. Dualistic philosophies propose two essentially different realities - usually one that is divine and one that is mundane. Usually dualists claim that the purpose of life is to do what is necesary to reach the divine realm and stay there. Non-dual means that we are already in the only place that exists and that any belief that separates us from the one reality is erroneous. There are plenty of distinctions to be drawn between different types of non-dual systems and we will certainly play with those ideas here. Ultimately, my hope is that these discussions will lead to a well-developed modern philosophical basis for yoga and a more evolved understanding of why Yoga works as well as it does to help practitioners develop healthy minds and bodies. Placing yoga within the primary and dominant paradigm of our times without doing any damage to the praxis of Yoga should be an interesting exercise.
